Daniel, thanks for the advise. I will try it.
Regards,
Roy.

Re: How to get relative errors after plane fitting
Daniel,
I understand. If so, is there any way to convert the fitted plane into a point cloud?

Re: How to get relative errors after plane fitting
Hi Daniel, No, I don't want to project the points. I have the captured image pixels in XYZ format, and CloudCompare gives the distances to the fitted plane and the normal of that plane. What I want to have is (per pixel) the error in Z component only between the captured pixel and the fitted plane. ...

How to get relative errors after plane fitting
Hi, First, I would like to really thank the developer(s) for this impressive program. My question is as follows: I am evaluating the performance of a depth sensor. I want to capture a large flat target (e.g. a long wall) and check the captured depth map uniformity and the error relative to distance ...

Re: Extract statistics from primitive fitting result
Hey Daniel, Thanks a lot for the prompt reply. I was able to do as you recommended and it looks like what I wanted. This can help me a lot to evaluate the quality of the 3D images that I inspect. I have a small question: the thresholds in which I pick in 'Edit > Scalar Fields > Filter by value' are ...

Extract statistics from primitive fitting result
Dear CloudCompare member, I am a new user to CC and I enjoy it. I am trying to fit a primitive shape, currently a plane, to a part of my PLY image which I segmented. Let's call it 'PLY_segmented'. What I want to do is to define a threshold in mm, and get the number of points in PLY_segmented that fi...
