Re: The ability to simplify based on Z variance
I tried that without being able to duplicate the results I get from Terrascan. In Lastools they do the same with adaptive thinning with Lasthin: "For adaptive thinning use '-adaptive 0.2 5.0' where 0.2 specifies the vertical tolerance that a TIN through the thinned points is allowed to deviate ...

The ability to simplify based on Z variance
Hi. There is a feature that I have wanted in CC forever. The ability to reduce a pointcloud based on the difference in the Z value of neighbours. That's how you classify "model keypoints" in other software. And is the best way to reduce the number of points, without loosing the definition ...

The ability to classify photogrammetric point clouds
Or lidar ones for that matter.. I find the classification in Pix4d and similar software to be hit or miss. So stuff like "classify ground" "classify vegetation" etc would be great! Ground is the main one. And also, like I posted about before. To be able to classify model keypoint...

Re: A way to classify "model keypoints"
"lasthin" from Lastools also does this: For adaptive thinning use '-adaptive 0.2 5.0' where 0.2 specifies the vertical tolerance that a TIN through the thinned points is allowed to deviate from the complete set of points and 5.0 the maximum distance between points. The default for the latt...

Re: A way to classify "model keypoints"
Model keypoints are the points that are needed to represent the cloud as close as possible without losing detail.. It's class 8 in las i believe. Usually you run model keypoints on ground points before triangulation, as triangulating all ground points would create a mesh that is way to heavy. So ins...

A way to classify "model keypoints"
As far as I know, there is no free software that can do this today. It would also be neat to be able to classify "ground" "buildings" etc, but model keypoints is the most important one. In my workflow, model keypoints are the points that are used to triangulate a cloud, and today...

Re: More edge detection tools
Or just tools for fixing splines that you have made with the crossection tool or similar. To edit them, smooth them and join them when needed. That would be amazing. I struggle to get crossections that are loft ready now, maybe it's just me doing it wrong? And thank's for developing this program, it...

More edge detection tools
That's the only thing that keeps CC from being an all in one solution for "scan to bim" work. There are some PCL plugins already, and if I remember correctly there are quite a few edge detecting tools in PCL? I just saw the "create surface between lines" function, has that been t...
