Command line: What command to fit two FARO scans

Post by DarknessRain »

I have two FARO scans of a room from slightly different positions and angles. Which commands should I be using to fit them together? I tried ICP but it just made them worse than doing nothing.

If you want to use ICP, make sure both scan are already roughly registered, and set the 'overlap' parameter correctly.

Otherwise, or at least before using ICP, it would be a good idea to use the Align tool (http://www.cloudcompare.org/doc/wiki/in ... itle=Align).

How can I roughly register them via command line? What it seems to want to do every time is just match up the starting position of the scans, and then there's obvious walls just going in random angles. It's the full room from the corner, and then the same room from two steps forward from the same corner. When I load the resulting xyz file into a viewer it just looks like two distinct rooms halfway into each other like an angular Venn diagram.

Oops, I missed the command line part. Of course it's not possible, no magic here...
