Entry Point Not Found Error

Post by toddschaefer »

To all,

I recently attempted to install Version 2.10.2 with the FARO extensions and received an "Entry Point Not Found" error when trying to open the program. I uninstalled 2.10.2 and attempted to install 2.10.1 but with the same error. I then installed 2.9.1, again with the FARO extensions and this version of CloudCompare runs fine. I have attached a photo/image of the error message. Any help, advice, and/or thoughts on this error would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for any input!

Hum, that's weird. Have you tried it with the 2.11.alpha version as well?

(it seems it uses the wrong version of the GDAL DLL...).

Same problem here.

Same with 2.11.alpha as well.

I noticed CC installed FARO LS 1.1.701.1

But the most recent version installed (probably by FARO Scene) is FARO LS 1.1.704.2

2.10 and 2.11.alpha WERE working. I'm not sure when they stopped. Maybe when I installed the newest FARO Scene update?

Not sure if that helps.

I'm in the same boat - only 2.9.1 works now.

I did a little more troubleshooting and now things seem to be working. I upgraded 2.9 to 2.10.2 but did not install the FARO extensions. Version 2.10.2 opened just fine and without error. I then reinstalled 2.10.2 with the FARO extensions and now everything seems to work fine without any errors.

Ok, I got it installed and running using your method, but I can't open any FARO files:

ERROR:
Faro Failed to connect to FARO LS runtime: Cannot instantiate FARO open interface

We are finding the same error when opening FARO files as well. I had not tested that function at the time of my prior posting.

What happen if you uninstall CC, delete the 'CloudCompare' folder (just in case) and reinstall everything?

On one machine I uninstalled CC and all of the versions of FARO LS.

Installed a clean 2.10.2 and the FARO LS with the install.

Try to load a FARO LSPROJ file and receive this error:

[16:37:31] [Faro] Successfully connected to FARO LS runtime version '7.1.1.81'
[16:37:31] [Faro] The file 'xxxx.lsproj' could not be loaded (no workspace)
[16:37:31] An error occurred while loading 'xxxx': see console

(I X'd out my file name).

As far as I can tell the installation of 2.11 alpha with FARO LS breaks the FARO plugin functionality of cloudcompare. And even after uninstalling CC 2.11alpha and FARO LS files and reinstalling a previous version of CC, the FARO important functionality is STILL broken.

I've gone back to 2.10 and 2.10 beta. Both of which USED to work with FARO importing. Now they no longer do.

I even used Ccleaner to clean my registry of unused entries after uninstalling CC and FARO LS, but it had no effect.

Hum, scary. We did upgrade the FARO LS version (to the 1.1.703.1 version). And I saw recently that the SDK was updated again (1.1.704.2).

So I tried on my side and now:
1) the bad news is that I have the same error on my side
2) the good news is that I have the same error on my side (so I may be able to debug it ;)
