Setting XYZ dimensions of point cloud

Post by bmckeeby »

I'm working with a 3d point cloud created using Structure from motion photogrammetry (the cloud was created in Meshroom). I am trying to characterize the vertical profile of the cloud surface by exporting the data from CC as a .LAS and importing it into ArcGIS. The sample is small, so non-georeferenceable.

My issue is, how do I set the dimensions of the z direction. It appears that the scaler height field is in arbitrary units, whereas I'm looking to express them in millimetres.

Thanks!

You should use the 'Edit > Multiple/Scale' tool to change the scale.

And to know the actual dimension of your cloud, you can look at the bounding box dimensions in the cloud properties, or use the 'Point picking' tool to measure the height between two points, etc.
