I need to comapre two scans.
I 'm getting strange results. Infact there shouldn't be any difference between these scans.
Why I 'm getting rings around scanner stand positions.
What is best way to compare these scans.
How can I uploadscans files *.bin (30MB) for others on this forum to test it.
Looking at the shape of these rings, I doubt this is a bug or a numerical artifact. Maybe something in your measurement process?
However I'm very interested in the dataset: you should share the files with Google Drive or Dropbox if you have an account. Otherwise I can give you an ftp account on CC's website.
In Google drive, just right click on the file and select Share > Share... (you can either change the rights to public or invite specific people with their emails).
And I confirm that the ripples are already present in the data (you can see them directly after loading the data, even without computing any distances):

When you make a slice of one of the cloud and multiply the z scale by 10 you can clearly see the oscillations:

It must come from the measurement process. However I won't be able to help you much more as I'm not an expert in the scanning process. Maybe you could ask to the manufacturer?
