Opening File

Forgive how remedial this question is;

I am opening a .csv file with the form:
id,northing,easting,elevation,,hzprec,vtprec,pdop,satellites

in the import window, I use the drop downs to give the form:
ignore, x, y, z, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore

the open button remains greyed out and inactive.

maybe the points need id names? id is not an option in the drop down. any suggestions?
appologies, I'm a student and would appreciate the help!

The minimum requirement is to define at least 2 coordinates (e.g. X and Y). Therefore the issue must be somewhere else.

Is there red lines? (you'll have to skip them with the 'skip lines' spin-box)?

Otherwise can you post (or send me via email) a screen shot of the dialog?

There are indeed cells that are coloured red in the import window. I have chosen to "ignore" the first column, as it contains only id names, and i have asked to "skip" for row, as it contains only the field headers (x, y, z, r, g, b, number of satellites, etc). The ok button remains inactive. I will attach a screen capture as soon as possible if this is not helpful.

In fact I realize that the actual version of CC won't accept an invalid column even if it is not assigned to any "property"...This is a bit dumb (I'll try to fix this for the next version).

Meanwhile, you'll have to remove the 'red' columns prior to opening the file in CC (you can do column wise selection/deletion with smart text editors like Notepad++).

so, i removed everything necessary and i was able to import, BUT

my cloud is a mirror image of what it should be....
is there a way to flip it?

If one dimension is mirrored (I'm not sure why but some softwares use non-direct bases) you can use the 'Edit > Multiply/scale' tool to multiply it by '-1'.

Otherwise you can invert the Y and Z coordinates for instance during import (however you won't be able to 'inverse' this process when saving the cloud).

When you say that I won't be able to invert when I save, do you mean that I cannot reverse the changes, or that the changes will be temporary and I cannot export the correction with the cloud.

If you apply the second trick (inverting the columns at loading time) then you won't be able to invert them again when saving the file. But now that I think of it it's not really a problem as the output file has almost nothing in common with the input one!

Now,

I have been able to execute the transformations. Can you help me further understand what the import is doing when it's flipping my clouds so that I can be sure that I am not altering my data. I have no problem altering the coordinates of my photo clouds because they will be georeferenced anyway, but my reference GPS survey cloud needs to retain its coordinates.
Once I flip the survey cloud -1 in the x, it works. I then save this file. I reopen this new transformed file, and it again the same message as the first time it is imported (about numbers being too long and it wants to make such and such change to it). The translated cloud again renders mirrored as it did before the transformation.
Similarly, when reopened, the translated photo clouds are simply back to where the started.....

What am I doing wrong? It seems like the import is altering them each time...
