Reseting coordinates

Post by CFD-Palma »

Hi all,
Is it possible to define a coordinate origin and direction by choosing 3 points?
This would be very fast and a simple way to reseting the coordinates to our needs.
Thank you very much for this excelent software!!

Carlos.

There's only one proper way to do this: select the cloud and call the '"Tools > Register > Align (point pairs picking)" tool.

You'll have to pick 4 points in your cloud (the origin and the 3 "directions"). Try to get the 3 direction points roughly at the same distance from the origin.

Then in the (yellow) 'reference' part you'll have to add 4 virtual points (with the pen icon):
  • (0,0,0)
  • (1,0,0)
  • (0,1,0)
  • (0,0,1)
Make sure the 'adjust scale' checkbox is not checked and click 'align'.
