ICP on part of image

Post by kscharer »

Hi- Looking for assistance on running ICP on part of 2 point clouds then applying to the remainder.... Found this in old discussion:
"you should use ICP on a part that matches well the other cloud shape, then apply the resulting matrix to the original cloud)" but unclear where to (a) find the matrix and (b) if there is automated way to apply it to the rest of the scene.
thanks!

At the end of the ICP process, after you see the 'confirmation' dialog (with a little summary - resulting RMS etc.) the applied transformation matrix is output to the Console (F8 to force it to appear if it's not the case).

Just select the corresponding entry, copy it (CTRL+C) then select the global cloud and call the 'Edit > Apply transformation' method. Now you can paste the copied block directly - CTRL+V - as we automatically get rid of the non interesting characters now.

And there's no way to do this automatically right now.
