Remove points by Axis-Value

Post by DonFerrnando »

Hi Daniel,

currently I am working on my Master-thesis and discovered CloudCompare. Very nice tool!

Since I only need a snipped of the whole Lidar-Scan I was looking for a feature where I can delete all points in a cloud which have a value above and below a certain theshold.

E.g. Remove all points that have a Y-Value < -500 and >500

Best regards, Robert

This can be done in two steps:
- first export your (Y) coordinates to a scalar field with http://www.cloudcompare.org/doc/wiki/in ... )_to_SF(s)
- then filter the points based on this scalar field with http://www.cloudcompare.org/doc/wiki/in ... r_by_Value

Another more 'interactive' option is to use the scissors tool (with a rectangular selection area).

Ok, great! Thanks!

The scissor-tool I already knew, but I cannot do this by hand since for later analysis I need to apply the same boarders for every point cloud (It's not only one cloud I am working with :) ).

But this will work for the moment. Thanks alot :)

Best regards,

Robert

Actually with the scissors tool you can export the segmentation polyline and reload it for other clouds. Well. that's for the records ;)
