scaling

I saw in a tutorial that i can scale my mesh from tools button but my version doesn't show tools banner button at all ? I'm using mac with parallel for windows extension.
"tools banner"? What are you referring to?
Scaling is usually done with 'Edit > Multiply / scale'.
