I use Cloud Compare when working on my Lidar gathered Point Clouds.

The question i would like to ask is related to the ability to measure Distances between two objects datum heights. Im really bad at explaining myself in this so ill try my best.

So what i have is two objects, one is on a higher ground level that they other (sloping ground). I need to be able to calculate the height difference between the two points. (so the height change either + or - from the base of the first object to the base second one. )

You can either compute the vertical (robust) distance with the M3C2 plugin (use the '+Z' normal option).

Or you can more simply use the 2.5D Volume calculation tool with your two clouds. You can output the compared grid with the vertical difference.
