Area covered by point could data

Post by christina.robinson2 »

Hi, I'm totally new to the software and I'm trying to find the area in square meters that is covered by my point cloud data. Is this possible in CloudCompare?

I have tried to find an answer to this question but have had no such look.

Thanks

Well, it depends on the shape of your cloud. If it's more or less a square and well oriented, you can simply use the bounding-box extensions (see the cloud properties).

Otherwise you'll have to fit a 'Facet' object (Tools > Fit > Facet) and then read it's surface in the resulting entity properties.
