Line Profile in CloudCompare possible?

Hi all together,

is it possible to show/extract a line profile in CC?
I have a tube which I recorded with a terrestrial 3D laser scanner. The scanner records the geometry (X, Y and Z) the color (RGB) as well as the laser reflection intensity (I).
Now I would like to mark a line in my scanned object and see e.g. the geometry of the object and the intensity at this position.
The background is, I have several spectral data on this tube (RGB and two scalars) and I would like to compare the spectroscopy at the very specific surface. It also depends on the geometry of the object, or better, the surface normal to the scanner.

Thank you very much in advance!

Well, you have two options to 'extract' slices or profiles:
- the 'cross section' tool (https://www.cloudcompare.org/doc/wiki/i ... ss_Section)
- the 'section extraction' tool (https://www.cloudcompare.org/doc/wiki/i ... t_Sections)

The first is simpler, and will allow you to quickly extract a slice (especially if it's along X, Y or Z).

The second one is more evolved, and will let you actually 'trace' (or load) the section line (well, in 2.5D...)

Dear Daniel,

thank you very much for your quick response! I will try that!
But is there a chance, not only to get the coordinates of the points along a line but also the e.g. RGB or intensity values?

Greetings

If you extract a slice, everything will follow with the points (colors, scalar fields, etc.)

Thank you I will try! :)
