geomorphology measurements beginner

Post by CCbeginner »

Hello,
I started to use CC recently after seeing a publication by Gerdesetal et al., 2019 where they were using it for calculating roughness, slope etc..
I would like to try a similiar thing for an underwater vent. I think I accomplished to calculate the roughness but I have problems to find the right tools to compute the aspect and slope (and maybe the error of this).
I have been searching for it but could not really find an answer to my question. Can I do something like that with my XYZ point cloud, do I need my mesh etc etc.. I have been using Agisoft for the initial processing.

Thanks a lot already, sorry for a maybe really beginner-like question but could not find the answer.

What do you call 'aspect'? And which 'Error' would be associated to this?

Then, for the slope, I guess the best way is to compute the normals (if you don't have them already) and then to convert them to 'dip and dip direction' (with 'Edit > Normals > Convert to').
