Selecting elevation in imported rasters

Post by Stubb »

How do I map a raster band to the "Z" coordinate when rendering a GeoTIFF in 3D? I'm seeing options for selecting which band is used to color the surface, but not for selecting which one maps to elevation.

My goal is to use CloudCompare to compare LPCs with rasters generated using PDAL. I'm currently finding it extremely useful for comparing source LPCs to ones I'm processing with PDAL. It's extremely handy how I can perform point filtering and add additional dimensions to the point and visualize the differences and new dimensions through selective coloring.

You can use the 'Edit > Scalar fields > Export to coordinate(s)' tool to map a scalar field (= raster band) to the Z coordinate.
