error normal.ply form PostShot to CloudCompare (GaussianSplatting)

Post by di_mordone »

Good night everyone! I have already asked in several places from the Gaussian camp - no answer received.

Want to ask you, hoping for nice advice!

Presumably - my normals are unfolded in different directions, I can’t build a proper mesh. Is it because of my settings? Is it because of the number of vertices? I tried to invert the normls, but the result was just as bad. Please give me advice, you probably have encountered such problem earlier..

excuse me, thank you

Hi,

It is not clear whether you already have normals (from the PLY file you load) and if yes, why you need to compute new ones.

Properly orienting normals on such a complicated cloud is very hard, if not impossible.

I think this file is not have normals, because if I go straight to the step "PoissonRecon" i get an empty layer

this is splat . ply from PostShot. I added the file maybe (it would be a miracle) someone will look at it https://drive.google.com/file/d/1xpn8lq ... drive_link

anyway I have little hope, I start to draw the grid in manual blender, I like the process but it is very long

Thank you(!) for answering so quickly
