Mesh experto to QGIS

Post by jorgemat »

Hello everybody.
I'm learning how to use CloudCompare to make DSM and DTM from point clouds, and I have the following beginner's question: how to export the mesh obtained with CSF Filter, to a raster file (tiff) so that I can use it it in QGIS?
I appreciate your help.

You have to use the Rasterize tool (https://www.cloudcompare.org/doc/wiki/i ... /Rasterize).

And if you have a mesh, you'll have to convert it to a point cloud first (with 'Edit > Mesh > Sample points').

Dear Daniel

Thank you for your quick response and solution.

The only problem now is that, when I open the raster in QGIS, it is out of place. Apparently the coordinates are wrong, which doesn't happen when I Rasterize the normal point cloud.

Can you give a solution for this?

Thanks.

Ok, I thought this was fixed in 2.14.alpha, but it was not... I've fixed it and uploaded a new version today (2.14.alpha 1/6/2025).

It should solve the issue of losing the Global shift when running CSF. And you'll be able to rasterize the resulting cloud/mesh and keep the large coordinates.

Dear Daniel

Everything works out now.

I downloaded the new version 2.14 and remade the mesh with the CSF plugin and recorded the new raster. When I moved the new raster (geotiff) to QGIS, It was in the right place.

I feel very honored that you made this adjustment to the software due to my question. God bless you.

Thank you very much.
