Interface to Matlab (Or other Automator software)

I want to automate few operations and routine tasks in CloudCompare. Can I use Matlab or any other macro-creation / automation software for that? Where do I start if I want to create such automation for such open source software?

Apart from the command line mode, I don't see how you could have any action on CC from Matlab...

And I don't have any experience with automation software tools. Maybe somebody will have a better idea than me :D
